Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Countries involved; Germany, Turkey, Greece, Hungary, Spain, Italy, Lithuania, Estonia, Czech Republic and UK
Our project’s topic was migration and have focused on 2 main issues – Firstly, immigration related issues in connection to refugee crisis and discrimination towards immigrants, secondly – emigration of young people in connection to youth unemployment.

Training methods used & main activities

Mobility of youth workers was in the format of training course. We started the programme with getting
to know each other, breaking the ice and group building. We set together common agreement about
rules we are going to follow, shared personal and professional learning goals and get to know each
other’s (and organizations’) background. Activities in town not only helped to contribute to teambuilding,
but also to understand local reality in the area in connection to the topic. We also learned about nonformal learning, Youthpass and 8 key competences and Erasmus+ opportunities. After that we started
to go into the topic, by defining the key terms and concepts in migration area. We learned to understand
the issues connected to refugees, the main reasons behind it and contributing factors. We also learned
about the push and pull factors and discovered the situation in the destination country and main
challenges there. Participants could share their local and country realities in the world café. From there
one we went deeper, by discovering where participants themselves stand on certain issues, and to
create empathy and understanding about refugees we used a movie. Finally we made a role play, to
make participants understand various sides, and feel themselves how it is to be in refugees’ shoes.
Participants could share their best practices in open space. On last day, follow-up plans in participating
countries were done, also new joint project initiates were made and it was followed by learning reflection
(filling in Youthpass) and evaluation. Additionally each day there were learning reflection sessions (with
buddies and additional tools) and daily feedback groups. In the evening various social activities took
place, coordinated by participants and social committee.
All methods used were non-formal, such as group works, role-plays, guided visualization, debate, work
in pairs, individual tasks, theatre tasks, tasks in town, etc.

Outcomes of the activity

We consider all our results worth sharing, as they created impact on participants, participating
organizations and local communities. 42 people participated in training course and gained experienceand new competences. They implemented action plans in their countries involving local communities
(mainly youth) and refugees after the project.
Our main result of the project were participants with new knowledge, skills and attitudes, who were able
to take these competences back to their organizations, and with motivation gained from the training
course, implement various activities as follow-ups. So as the result we would first bring out the personal
and professional development of participants, and experience gained by partner organizations.
Additionally, information about the project has been shared in social media and in all partner networks.
