The Beyond Borders Summit aimed to empower young people, particularly members of diaspora communities, by strengthening their personal and professional competencies through non-formal education. The activity addressed the need for leadership development, career planning, teamwork, and intercultural cooperation among young people living and studying abroad. Through interactive learning, the summit encouraged participants to increase their self-awareness, develop employability skills, build international networks, and become active contributors to their communities. The activity supported the missions of the organizing partners by promoting youth empowerment, lifelong learning, and international cooperation.
The summit brought together approximately 200 young people from different countries, with the majority representing Georgian diaspora communities living across Europe. Participants came from diverse educational, cultural, and professional backgrounds, creating a rich intercultural learning environment. The international composition of the group encouraged peer learning, networking, intercultural dialogue, and the exchange of experiences related to education, careers, leadership, and life abroad.
The learning programme was based on non-formal education and experiential learning principles. I used interactive methods including icebreakers, energisers, team-building activities, small-group work, facilitated discussions, brainstorming, reflection exercises, experiential learning activities, peer learning, case studies, and practical workshops. Participants actively engaged in collaborative tasks, self-assessment exercises, and group reflections that encouraged learning by doing, knowledge sharing, and personal development.
The summit strengthened participants' leadership, communication, teamwork, career development, and intercultural competencies. It provided a valuable platform for networking among young people from different countries and diaspora communities, resulting in new partnerships, professional connections, and collaborative initiatives. The success of the activity was demonstrated through high participant engagement, positive evaluations, active participation throughout the programme, and the continued cooperation between participants and partner organizations after the event. The summit was documented through the communication channels of the organizing partners, including social media, photographs, videos, and event publications.
As a trainer, I was responsible for designing and facilitating interactive learning sessions focused on personal development, leadership, teamwork, communication, and career development. I prepared learning activities, facilitated group work and experiential exercises, encouraged active participation and reflection, and adapted the learning process to the diverse backgrounds and needs of participants. I also collaborated closely with the organizing team and partner organizations, including Diaspora Alliance for Georgia, to ensure that the training objectives were achieved and that participants experienced an engaging and learner-centred environment.
Nino Gogokhia demonstrated exceptional professionalism, energy, and facilitation skills as a trainer during the Beyond Borders Summit. She created an inclusive and engaging learning environment where participants from diverse cultural and diaspora backgrounds felt comfortable sharing their experiences, collaborating, and learning from one another.
