TOY - Trainers Online for Youth

The aim of the training was to provide useful tools for social and health workers in facilities dealing with older persons who may potentially also have an LGBTI identity. The aim of the training was to create useful and needs-oriented tools that could also be taken out of the hospital context and be reused within LGBTI associations or in the context of family and friendship caregivers.
The target group of the activities are social and health workers employed in the care of lgbt seniors. Another target group are volunteers and activists of lgbt associations. The group consisted of French, Greek, Italian, Romanian and Portuguese participants.
Formal and non-formal training activities were used during the training to enable greater group involvement and exchange between the participants. There were also moments of face-to-face training through the use of slides
I believe the training was successful because there were many moments of sharing and many moments of exchange. Through the practical activities, some people identified themselves in the role of a social or health worker and others in the role of a senior LGBTI person. In both cases they discovered specific needs they had never perceived before in their role. Through the training, some of the contents proposed in the slides were improved and targeted to make them more practicable and adherent to reality.
My task was to deal with a few training modules on the subject of lgbti ageing as an expert invited by the Italian cooperative Anziani e non solo (a subject I have been dealing with for years for my association IAM Intersectionalities and more APS) and to supervise a few training modules proposed by the other participating associations
