TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
This is a reference for Nour Alothman
The main aim of the activity was to qualify participants as certified youth leaders through the binational BAFA–JuLeiCa double certification programme.
The objectives were to:
• develop pedagogical, social, and organizational competencies required for youth leadership in Germany and France
• prepare participants to plan, implement, and evaluate educational activities for children and young people
• strengthen intercultural communication and cooperation
• build awareness of discrimination, racism, and inclusion in youth work
• equip participants with practical skills in project management, time management, conflict resolution, and group facilitation
• prepare participants for their practical internship phase and enable structured reflection afterwards
The activity was implemented as a fully binational German–French training programme.
• Participants: around 40 young people from both Germany and France
• Highly diverse group with different social, cultural, and educational backgrounds, including participants with migration and refugee experiences
• Training team: mixed German–French team of trainers from Jugendbildungsstätte LidiceHaus (Germany) and Les Francas (France)
• The entire programme was bilingual (German/French) with professional interpreters and structured language animation to ensure equal participation
A wide range of non-formal education methods were applied, including:
• interactive workshops and participatory inputs
• language animation and intercultural learning activities
• small group work and peer learning
• role plays, simulations, and case studies
• reflection circles and debriefing methods
• exercises for designing pedagogical games
• teamwork and group dynamic activities
• methods of critical reflection on discrimination and racism
• visual facilitation and creative learning tools
All methods were adapted to a bilingual and intercultural learning environment.
• Participants successfully completed the seminar phases of the BAFA–JuLeiCa qualification
• Development of concrete competencies to work as youth leaders in both Germany and France
• Strengthened intercultural understanding and cooperation
• Increased awareness and skills in diversity-sensitive and anti-discriminatory youth work
• Participants were effectively prepared for their 14-day internship phase
• Structured reflection helped participants transfer learning into practical youth work contexts
• Creation of a strong binational learning community
Number of training days:
19 training days in total
(10 days in France + 9 days in Germany)
The participants received their certificate from each country
My role in the team included:
• Co-designing the overall binational training concept
• Acting as the JuLeiCa expert to ensure German standards and requirements were fully integrated
• Planning and facilitating several modules and thematic inputs
• Leading workshops on:
• project management
• time management

• Facilitating reflection processes before and after the internship phase
• Supporting group processes in an intercultural and bilingual setting

• Contributing to logistical coordination and organizational preparation
Hereby I confirm that Nour Alothman was part of the organisation and leading of the above-mentioned activities.
Nour was not only a leading person, but also a key 8btralcentral person for these activities. He has left a remarkable print on our project through the knowledge and the international working experience he brought in. His friendly manners and his professional skills helped him to softly impart the content of our activities to the participants.
Since we were in an international context with participants with many differences (e.g. gender, age, race, social background, etc.), Nours Knowledge and know how in terms dealing with discrimination and safeguarding issues were very precious to create and maintain a comfortable environment for everyone during those two trainings.
Nour is also a very good team player, who knows quite well when to take and when give space. His is always concerned by the well-being of everyone in the team, but he is also a fond of clearly defined roles among the team. Responsibility and reliability are also two important keywords that strongly belong to his professional understanding.
