TOY - Trainers Online for Youth

- Provide youth workers with practical tools and strategies for counteracting xenophobia and racism. WITH
- Enhance the knowledge among youth workers about anti-racism and social justice
- Create new anti-racist projects and initiatives
The participants comprised of:
- youth workers who have been
working directly with young people for at
least 6 months
- youth workers with the desire to increase their capacity towards youth participation and anti-racism
- adults 18 or older
- residents of the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, North Macedonia, Spain, Sweden
The Team consisted of:
- two Swedish team members from Peaceworks Sweden as orgnisers
- 3 freelance trainers
Non-formal education methods such as:
icebreakers, teambuilding games, small group discussions, plenary discussions, peer feedback sessions, self-organized group work, theatre of the oppressed, DRIV
Formal education methods such as:
powerpoint presentations, independent research.
The outcome of the training was for participants to develop their own anti-racist initiatives that they could implement in their home countries. Participants would form a group in the training and use Peaceworks' method DRIV in order to create this project.
As a trainer, my responsibilities were as follows:
- Participate in planning sessions before the training courses and alter the frameworks based on specific needs
- Facilitating sessions during the training, including leading sessions, moderating discussions and facilitating exercises
- Participate in follow-up meetings and evaluations after the training courses
- Participate in and contribute to the dissemination of the project results.
