19 pax from 7 countries.
3 trainers (ITA, POL, GER)
1 Course director (FRA)
1 Education Advisor (GE)
The training employed non-formal education (NFE) methods. These included a learner-centered approach, where participants (pax) actively participated in their learning process through a combination of theoretical frameworks and practical applications. Activities involved team assignments, mentoring sessions, and open spaces for peer learning and expert input. For example, participants worked in teams to discuss about various topic of the sessions, role play and other session input from COMPASS (CoE Manual). Additionally, the program integrated elements of Human Rights Education (HRE) and Don Bosco’s educational methodology.
In the study session we used also LEGO Serious Play as a method to clarify concepts and ideas.
The outcomes of the ‘Advocacy in Action: Safeguarding a sustainable and peaceful future’ study session are aimed at equipping youth volunteers with the skills, knowledge, and tools to actively participate in human rights advocacy, with a focus on sustainability and peacebuilding. Specifically, the expected outcomes are:
Strengthened Advocacy Capacity: Participants will gain a stronger understanding of human rights, sustainability, and peace-building, enabling them to advocate more effectively within their local communities and at an international level.
Enhanced Competences: The training will provide participants with the necessary competences to advocate for human rights, including knowledge, practical tools, and know-how to influence social change and decision-making processes.
Creation of Advocacy Campaigns: Participants will be able to design and implement advocacy campaigns in the field of sustainability and peace-building, either at a local or international level, fostering spaces for dialogue and engagement.
Institutional Representation: Volunteers will become active in DBYN’s advocacy work, potentially representing the network in youth councils, policy development, and advocacy campaigns at various institutional levels.
Youth Representatives Pool: Participants can join DBYN’s pool of youth representatives, playing a role in representing the network towards international institutions and civil society organisations.
Multiplier Effect: Participants are expected to act as multipliers by sharing the knowledge and skills they’ve gained within their local communities and member organisations, thereby contributing to long-term advocacy efforts in human rights, peace-building, and sustainability.
These outcomes will empower young people to take active roles in social change and to foster a sustainable and peaceful future through advocacy.
I've been a trainer for DBYN ensuring smooth logistics and content delivery. I helped design and co-facilitate workshops on advocacy, human rights, and sustainability, while talking and co-training with the EducationaI Advisor provided guidance to participants, encouraging collaboration and supporting their development of advocacy campaigns. Additionally, I documented key outcomes, collected feedback, and contributed to post-event reporting. After the session, I supported participants in networking and continuing their advocacy work at local and international levels.
Here you go ;) good luck
