TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
This is a reference for Silvia Pérez Alonso
The project "A cyberbully won’t stop until its mindset is dropped" was born from the need to explore new strategies in order to analyze cyberbullying which often takes place on the internet and social networks.
The major motivation behind the project was to address the effects and impacts of social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube, on young people's lives because social media is an influential part of life for many young people today. In our schools and in our universities, cyberbullying is a very modern problem, and for this reason, we wanted to learn new skills to stop or prevent this occurrence.
Through non-formal education and focusing on the most important aspects of cyberbullying, we wanted to develop better use of the internet and improve our experience of using social networks.
Increasing young people’s awareness of the danger and negative effects of cyberbullying and hate speech online was the main aim of this project.
Participants from 7 countries gathered in Floda to learn about the topic: Sweden, Poland, Spain, Portugal, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Greece.
This project was based on non-formal education methods, basing the learning project on dynamics and discussions. Some of them were world cafe, step forward, thinking hats and role plays among others.
The group created a toolbox with different tools to fight against cyberbullying (prevention) and how to support people who suffered cyberbullying as well. They shared new knowledge in their home country and as youth workers, they used it in their current job.
I worked as a full-time trainer for the 8 days the project lasted.
Youth Exchange took place as described and Silvia was involved as a full-time facilitator
