Mariana Vieira da Rocha

About:

I love to support people connect by creating spaces that are the starting point for meaningful conversations and which enable learning moments, where people feel safe, and are able to find their own “Aha! moments!”

I work as a youth and young adults coach and as training facilitator. In my free time I volunteer for a variety of organisations and travel as much as I can.

Mariana Vieira da Rocha has 3 references for past work as a trainer.

Current occupation

Training facilitator; Youth and Young adults Coach

Work experience

I am a youth and young adults Coach and the founder of The Curious Path, a space for people to feel curious, connected and heard, through 1:1 and group coaching and non-formal education workshops.

I have been a training facilitator since 2018 and have worked closely with Higher Education Institutions, NGOs and as part of a team for KA1 training "Games are not just a Game"

I worked as a Volunteering and Community Engagement Manager in in Higher Education for 10 years until April 2023, when I decided to dedicate my full time to working with and for young people and young adults as a Coach and a non-formal education facilitator. I’ve been actively involved in Erasmus+ programmes as a participant and as a trainer and have developed and delivered a variety of activities to support youth workers and youth groups.

I’ve developed and delivered training for Universities & Student Unions (staff and students), youth groups and youth workers across Europe and I’m always striving to help people to gain awareness to all the skills, knowledge and experience they have thorough coaching, facilitation and training.

I am also a co-founder of SPEAK London, a social tech startup that connects migrants, refugees and locals through a language and culture exchange program helping them to feel integrated in the city where they moved to. It breaks barriers, promotes multilingualism, equality and democratises language learning.

Educational pathway

All the opportunities below, which relate with community engagement, volunteering and service learning have allowed me to really understand the importance on non-formal activities (with a volunteering focus) and allowed me to learn how to better collaborate with a variety of community groups, organisations and individuals.

- THOR - The Heart of Reflection [2020]
- Service Learning / Community Engaged Learning
Forum (Trent Institute for Learning & Teaching (TILT) [2020]
- The Power of Non-Formal Education [2019]
- Community Engagement: Collaborating for Change (University of Michigan - EdX) [2019]
- Volunteer Impact in the Community (AVM) [2018]
- IMPACT International - Supporting International Volunteering [2014]
- Managing Volunteers with the Institute of Leadership Management(ILM) endorsement [2012]

The Project Management training and Impact Management were absolutely crucial in supporting my ability to create projects from scratch and understanding their outcomes and impact they had. This has supported the development and delivery of every project I've ever done or been involved in.

- Prince2 - Foundation and Practitioner (AFA Project Management) [2012]
- Outcomes and Impact Management (NCVO) [2017]

My arts focussed education provided me with the ability to think creatively and address challenges in a very "out-of-the-box" way. This has had (and still has) an incredible impact on how I live my live and develop my professional and personal projects.
