Understanding Climate Through Olives

Holding the project in Ayvalık is essential for achieving its learning objectives. Olive groves, olive production, local producers, environmental conditions and olive related cultural heritage are visible in everyday life in Ayvalık. Participants will examine olive trees and soil conditions, observe production processes, meet producers and experts, compare climate information with field evidence and work on solutions that young people can develop. AYEV’s local knowledge and field connections will support these activities.

We plan to hold the Youth Exchange in Ayvalık in October 2027, with eight activity days. The first days will focus on group building, Youthpass, climate awareness and information checking. The following days will include field activities on olive groves, production processes, water, soil, local knowledge and living cultural heritage. Participants will meet local actors, develop 2035 Resilient Olive Systems solutions in international teams and prepare a joint subtitled short video. The final day will focus on evaluation, Youthpass and the follow up plan. Local sharing and follow up activities will take place in the partner countries in November 2027.
