“TAC: They Are Children”

“TAC: They Are Children”

Young offenders are unfortunate children who have to spend their childhood or teenage years behind bars in prison. Both in Turkey and the EU, these children and their difficult circumstances should not be ignored. No matter why or how they are in prison, they are still children, they are our children, and they are part of our society.
Like any other children, they deserve to play, laugh, have fun, and seek entertainment. Just because they are confined, they shouldn’t lose these opportunities. With this project, we aim to remind these unfortunate children that “they are kids” by entertaining them with the help of the participants from the partner countries. The host and partner countries will be carrying out several performances, such as concerts, mime, a magic show, folk or modern dance, etc. We also want our students to meet these children in order to break the prejudice against young offenders, and to encourage our students to empathize with them.
We aim for this project to bring a smile to the young offenders’ faces, give them a day of fun and entertainment, and reduce social prejudice against them.
