Play2Career

Our project includes awareness raising and encouraging activities among young people about dual careers in sports.

Approaching the end of the first quarter of the 21st century, career planning, self-development, education, training, and searching for future opportunities remain significant for youth. These terms have been highlighted because many young people suffer from planning a schedule to fit their daily life, education, and hobbies. This disorganization may stem from the fact that youngsters may lack the necessary support from their teachers and parents, who possess significant roles in the students’ educational achievements, according to Durisic and Bunijevac (2017). Through planning their life, young people may not only contribute to their personal growth but also devise their professional careers. However, in today’s digital world, it is barely enough for youth to have a single professionalism to compete with others. From this point of view, gaining a second professionalism in another field to become a person with a dual career may bring young people to the forefront in competition with other individuals. To specify more, our project will cover the theme of young people's attainment of a dual career with sports. We would like to zoom in the sports as the second career because youth generally have problems scheduling their education and training. Even it is indicated by the EU Guidelines on Dual Careers of Athletes (2012) that athletes frequently confront barriers to organizing their life in accordance with education and training.

We strongly believe that becoming a dual-career person may provide many opportunities for youth but also this process needs the support of people around them. In addition to having problem with planning their lives, there are also youth facing the barriers set by their family members. There are numerous individuals with dual careers. Moreover, discovering the lives of people who have/had hidden careers in relation to sports is one of the objectives of our project.

Within the scope of the project, we will carry out dual career management trainings, visits, experience sharing programs and cooperation development activities for the participants who will be selected from 6 partners.

Our activities will be organized jointly with our partners; We are looking for public-private, NGO partners who are active in sports, sports mobility, support of young people in the field of sports and sports career. Those who want to be a partner in our project can contact us.
