Project summary

“Participate and Decide- young people struggling” is a scenario that integrates youth.45 young Europeans aged between 17 and 29 from 9 different countries,are placed in discussion groups to engage in dialogue with those responsible in order to understand what is happening behind political decisions and to develop projects of youth social Entrepreneurship,based around active citizenship which allows them to participate and have an impact on the design and implementation of youth policies,within a European perspective.
There will be youth groups wanting to engage,participate,change the things in your environment for the benefit of the whole of Europe.

This project will ultimatley be the steps for the elaboration of a European directive prepared by young people.Our experience is our guarantee,for years hundreds of young people are encouraged to develope laws,they are then proposed to the politicians responsible.

Prensa Juvenil Canaria - Canarian Youth Press invites you to participate,you will join us. Your ideas are implemented.We will work in groups and talk to those politicians responsible on both sides.We will study mechanism to elaborate a European directive.
We will discuss, and above all create a working group of young people from different countries with different concerns but with a final goal.

We will communicate with each individual Politician with regard to each of your communities,with the final outcome answering all decision-making and the functions within each institution.

The initiative proposed is the development of a European directive of youth actions,to discuss them with a plan which will have as it’s mission to offer appropriate tools for it’s present and future,by promoting the active participation through actions that respond to their needs and the coordination of efforts to promote inclusion in policies and actions developed in Europe.

“Participate and Decide-young people struggling” encourages the participation of young people in the mechanism of representative democracy,by placing them in talks with political representatives in order to understand and inform each other.
This dialogue will be twin-track:So those responsible politicians listen to what young people have to say.

It hopes that the initiative will lead to the improvement of the climate for coexistence and the starting point of the actions to be undertaken.This should encourage the development of cognitive, emotional and communication skills,and influence in the fields of peaceful coexistence, recognition of differences and democratic participation.

This constructive dialogue will give young people the inner knowledge of decision-making and managment in a representative democracy.Young people come to understand what happens before making policies and decisions.They get to see studies technical,financial and bureaucratic restrictions that policymakers have in their decison making.The promoters of “Participate and Decide-young peo-ple struggling” believe part of the lack of interest shown by young people sometimes in politics and in the participation in the dialogue is due to the fact that young people do not feel informed and”they feel that they can make a difference because their participation is very low”
