Can we identify or create one or more symbol for Europe? Shall young European citizens realize them?
OBJECTIVES
This projet is focalized on two objectives:
1) Understanding the young citizens' view of Europe. We would like them to answer this question: what is Europe for you?
2) Creation of one or more monuments (plastic arts, painting, words, ...) We would like them to answer this question: How can you represent it?
SUMMARY
With this project we would like to understand whether young European citizens feel a common identity, and if that identity can be materialized by a symbolic representation (object, monument, illustration, etc.).
In this period of uncertainty about the future, the reality and the usefulness of the European Union, we wander: What is Europe for the citizens?
Is it just a set of institutions far from the everyday life of the citizens? or it exist in their everyday life?
Is it one, none or 100.000?
Can we represent it? How?
Following a process of reflection and inquiry, we want to achieve one or more symbols of Europe made by the young participants involved in the project.
ACTIONS DURING THE EXCHANGE
In the exchange we'll aid young participants to develop different symbols for representing Europe.
We will provide them resources and tools to realize it.
visits in Lyon divided in mixed groups to discover Symbolism (museum of modern art, monuments in the city, ect)
group discussions
practical workshops
role playing games
The project will be realized during the festival “ Festival Printemps d’Europe” that is a meeting of european artists from different countries around theatre creations for a dialogue and a reflection on the future of European citizenship through the question of languages and cultures.
We will create our symbols in public spaces of the festival. We will mix private laboratory and public interaction.
FOLLOW-UP
The achievements will be presented later in various European cities, starting from Lyon, in an expo that will be improved.
