„On the other side of the screen”

The purpose of this project is to indicate the importance of communication face to face and show its advantages over communication via electronic devices.

We’re schoolmates. Our group numbers 12 middle school students aged 14-16 and we’d like to organize a project for 4 similar groups. We’re typical teenagers. Our interests vary depending on the person. Some of us are fond of art and music, some are good at science and others prefer PE classes. We’re different, but we like spending time together. Lately we noticed that supposedly as most of our peers we are slowly getting addicted to chatting online or on the phone. This seems insignificant on the surface but if we take a closer look at it, this phenomenon might be dangerous. We decided to prevent it and here is the effect: the project in which our group wants to share experience with pupils from abroad. The plan includes: spending a lot of time on getting to know one another through a series of activities, acquiring some interesting forms of communication like Morse alphabet, using body language, preparing performances, dancing or learning epistolary forms. We expect the participants to be ready to refrain from using their phones or Internet during the project. We’d like to invite people who are open to new experiences and can help us convince more and more youth to meet more often in person rather than on FB or so. If you are interested in our project please send us PI and completed and signed mandate (in attachment) as soon as it is possible.
