"NATO and the Balkans - 10 years later"

Conference between representatives of NGOs from Balkan countries there will be a report on the popularity and influence of NATO in the Balkan societies.

The open-door policy of NATO in the Balkans is the most important aspect of their relationship. We deem it necessary to examine the views and attitudes of the youth in the Balkan countries towards NATO.
In a two-days conference between representatives of NGOs from seven Balkan countries there will be a report on the popularity and influence of NATO in the Balkan societies. This report will be based on interviews with representatives of NGOs and public administration in the countries: Bulgaria, Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Romania.
The main objective of the project is to collect and analyze data on attitudes towards NATO in the Balkans.
The specific objectives are:
- To improve the awareness of the public for the role of NATO;
- Interviewing some of the NGOs from the Western Balkans;
- Establishing a network of Balkan NGOs for future exchange of information and data of the attitudes of citizens in the Balkans to NATO.

Participants: Youth NGO’s (preferably) from: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Romania and Bulgaria.
The conference will take place between November 29 and 30, 2014 in Sofia.
