My Region, My Culture

We are a group of young people ( between the age of14 and 16) from Lower Silesia in Poland. We attend the same school and are also involved in a volunteering scheme run by our school.

Within this scheme we work with people who need our support but we are also interested in exploring the topics and problems of our society, such as a multicultural dialogue.

We have recently completed a similar project of multicultural interchange with a group of young people from China.

This is just one reason why we would like to do a project: My region, my culture, but there are more: main reason is international integration and promotion of own culture. Together with other young people ( groups of eight participants + 2 leaders from four countries) we will be able to exchange our experiences, learn about each other's history and culture. This will be an opportunity to start an international dialogue, develop a multicultural exchange on an entirely new level. Together with our partners we would like to learn more about our own region: Lower Silesia, as well as the places where other participants come from.

We hope that being involved in such a project will prevent us from forming or following common stereotypes in our lives, especially when thinking of „the other” - unknown. We believe that the more we know about others the easier it is to avoid hurtful stereotypical judgement, which isoften wrong and far from the truth.

Our aims are: to start an international cooperation, to discover and learn more about own history, to exchange experiences. We want to break cultural barriers by getting to know the history and culture of other regions, by promoting the places of origin of our participants. We would also like to learn about and discover the world yet unknown to us and we want to achieve all this through dialogue. We hope our partners will have experience in taking on similar topics and will show enthusiasm and be fully engaged in the project. They will be able to communicate in English.

We are looking for 8 young people groups + 2 leaders) from 3 countries.
