M-Ray (media relations for active youth)

Ukrainian NGO "PORA!" as a host organization is looking for the partners in realization of the training course about Media Relations for active youth (M-Ray) (KA 1: mobility of youth workers).

This is a training course for youth workers from youth organisations who іs responsible for communication with media or interested in being such kind of person in future.

With this project we want to highlight the importance of media relations in NGO activities for increasing effectiveness and involvement more youth into changes, establishing European values and for influence on local communities, authorities.

Media is a social instrument we communicate with authorities and our audience, target groups. Through media we deliver and receive information, we influence and have possibility to change agenda settings in local communities. Cooperation with media makes CSO and its activities more open, transparent and understanding for others. Media relations involves working with media for the purpose of informing the public of an organization's mission, policies and practices in a positive, consistent and credible manner. Media relation skills will help active youth present themselves into their everyday life, improve their communication, facilitation and organizing skills.

The slogan of M-Ray project is “M-RAY yourself’’. Young people will be “M-Rayed” by new knowledge, experience and sentiments. Equipped with new skills they will “M-Ray” others - in their CSOs, communities etc.

During M-Ray training course youth activists get know:

- Why it is important to cooperate with media;
- How to improve this cooperation;
- What is media relations and the main tips of MR;
- How to plan the public event;
- How to write, disseminate information about public events (press-announcement, press-release; post-release etc.)
- How to make concrete and require to media specific statements
- How to improve the skills of public speaking;
- How to stay confident during controversial discussion.

A part of the course will be dedicated to visits in local media, creation of special event by participants, so they will have a chance to talk with journalists, editors about cooperation with media and use their new skills on practice.

This training course based on non-formal learning, that is why all the sessions will be filled with various discussions, role plays and creative approach.
Call is open for the organizations from Programme Countries and for the Partner Countries Neighboring EU.

Profile of participants:
· youth worker/youth leader from youth organisation or groups or youth initiatives interested in this field.
speaking basic English;
open-minded, tolerant and creative;
ready to be active during the training course;
interested in setting further co-operation with organizations from other European countries.
