LEGAMI

Legami is a multidisciplinary ecosystem that aims to reduce early school leaving by producing a new teaching model in secondary schools.

Ten Spanish and ten Italian teenagers, all aged between 16 and 18, will take part in a research project. The project aims to produce a new educational model with the objective of reducing school dropout and early school leaving. The model is based on an analysis of the vulnerabilities of young people, as well as the ability of the wider educational community to promote inclusion and help young people develop life plans. The educational community will naturally include families, teachers and local and school institutions, but businesses will also play a key role in facilitating the integration of young people into the world of work.
Another innovation undoubtedly stems from the project's transnational nature, offering the potential for an exchange of experiences between young people from the two countries and the prospect of job mobility.
It is worth noting that both countries still have high dropout rates, which are far from meeting the Europe 2030 targets.

Project overview

taking place
from 2026-01-08 till 2026-12-30
This project relates to:
Youth Exchanges
and is focusing on:
  • Children
  • Coach for Youth Initiative
  • Democracy/Active citizenship
  • Integration
  • Non-formal learning
  • Unemployment/employability
This project can include young people with fewer opportunities like
  • Social obstacles
The social obstacles caused by leaving school early include economic insecurity and poverty, social exclusion, low-paid employment, the formation of the 'Not in Education, Employment or Training' (NEET) group, a weakening of social networks and an increased risk of deviant behaviour. These factors create a vicious circle that limits opportunities for growth, slows social productivity, and damages the country's competitiveness while blocking social mobility for those affected. Furthermore, early school leaving is closely linked to precariousness and poverty: young people who drop out of school are more likely to find themselves in precarious and poorly paid employment, which exacerbates economic problems and unemployment. Former students often become NEETs (not in education, employment or training), cutting themselves off from growth opportunities and exacerbating social inequalities.
