TRAINING COURSE
JOGI - JOËLETTE: A GREEN TOOL FOR INCLUSION was born thanks to the experience gained by the association 01 21 Aps in the knowledge and use of Joëlette, and especially after the participation and support of 01 21 Aps in the national project "Belfortissimi in Cammino", a fifty-day journey by Joëlette that involved 4 young people aged just 17 and their friend in a wheelchair, along the Camino de Santiago.
The Joëlette is an off-road wheelchair that can be with one or two wheels and/or assisted by an electric motor, which allows people with reduced mobility, with the help of at least four companions, to access any type of path and/or unpaved road (hiking trails, forests, mule tracks, gardens, etc.) of high and medium mountains.
We would like to promote and spread internationally the knowledge of the Joëlette and the importance of its use for the psychophysical well-being of people with physical disabilities. .
To spread the knowledge of this special wheelchair in the European context of the Erasmus+ program, means first of all to train specialized youth workers, able to drive the Joëlette and to assist the person transported. To create, therefore, within the associations, spaces dedicated to the use of this tool, would be a valuable opportunity to expand the range of action and inclusion of organizations active in Europe and beyond, and at the same time to promote within the Erasmus+ program, the use of the Joëlette as a tool that allows people with reduced mobility to participate in mobility projects offered by the program itself. Inclusion and accessibility within youth projects would thus be enhanced, ensuring a more equal, larger and more heterogeneous participation.
The project aims to:
- organize a training course for Joëlette accompanying youth workers, offering extracurricular learning perspectives with non-formal and informal methods, stimulating the awareness, creativity and sensitivity of the young people involved;
- Equip youth workers with the necessary skills to work with diversity and make the most of what it can offer to enrich each program. - Propose a training course that finds continuity over time and the possibility of repetition. The socio-educational animators who will be trained during the training will have the opportunity to repeat the activity in their organization;
- Promote the use of the Joëlette within the projects and activities of European youth organizations within the Erasmus+ program; the goal is to make the Joëlette become a powerful and indispensable tool for inclusion that allows people who use it, to access any type of activity and place, where the projects are set;
