Intercultural Dialogue: the road to a new society

Dear NGO representatives,

We are launching a call for a youth exchange project „Intercultural Dialogue: the road to a new society” , which will take place in Bucharest, Romania between 26 June – 2 July 2016 (including 2 travel days).

Aim of the project: raise awareness on the importance of intercultural competences among the participants to the youth exchange and their communities.

Profile of the participants: participants to the youth exchange will be young people 18 – 30 years old interested in intercultural dialogue and/ or belonging to multicultural communities facing integration challenges.

Number of participants per partner: 4+1, half of which are young people with fewer opportunities.

Throughout the activities, the participants will get acquainted with the concept of intercultural competence and with a theoretical framework of reference for intercultural competence. Capitalising on this framework, they will be engaged in activities aimed at prompting them to identify some of their own stereotypes about different cultures.

Given the current challenges in Europe, one of the workshops will be focused on identifying and analysing common prejudices about migrants and refugees and actions that young people themselves can take in order to foster dialogue between migrants and/ or refugees and local communities. During the activities, participants will be gathering as many examples of cultural sterotypes, prejudices and instances of discrimination as possible which will be included in a guide Stereotype Debunker – the final product of our youth exchange. The activities will employ structured discussions, quizzes, games, story telling, photo illustrations etc.
