ICT for Social Inclusion

The ICT can provide simple and effective tools to deal with socio-economic challenges, creating occasions to include migrants: let's share the good practices!

CONTEXT
The widespread diffusion of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and its integration in our everyday lives has become a major characteristic of the European contemporary society. The potential of ICT in facing the Social Challenges and – therefore - promoting an inclusive European information society is listed as one of seven pillars in the Digital Agenda for Europe.
Ensuring inclusion and participation of all individuals and communities in the emerging European information and knowledge society is a major concern.
Cultural diversity, in facts, is a key European attribute: the globalization, the wars and crisis spread from Middle East to Western Africa caused the increase of immigration inflows to Europe over the past two years (according to International Organization for Migration, just in the first half of 2017, there were 101.559 arrivals to Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Spain), presenting important socioeconomic challenges, such as multi-culturalism, racism, unemployment and xenophobia.
The ICT can provide simple and effective tools to deal with these socioeconomic challenges creating occasions to include migrants.
This exchange of good practices among UE partners is meant to provide the participants (mainly Youth workers and Youth Organizations Staff) with the skills and knowledge needed to activate occasions and processes of social inclusion of migrants through the use of new technologies.
The proposal is focused – particularly – on spreading video-making methodologies (such as: participatory video, lip dub, etc etc) and ICT seen as direct and strong tools of self-narration and storytelling about different cultures.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE
- To foster interculturality and dialogue among cultures in order to build bridges among peoples and create an inclusive environment;
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
- Promoted among the youth workers the exchange of good practices aimed at social inclusion of migrants through the use of ICT;
- Provided the youth workers with the video-making tools to foster the social inclusion of migrants.
