EVS at Food For Life Global

Volunteer will be based in Ljubljana - the capital city of Slovenia. They will stay in an apartment with other young people (either local or international students/interns). The apartment will be fully equipped, so that volunteers can prepare meals for themselves. Public transport (Urbana card) for buses and city bike in Ljubljana will be provided.

There is 1 EVS vacancy available, which will be related to work at Food Surplus Hub in Ljubljana (collecting food which otherwise would be thrown away, preparing meals and delivering them to socially underprivileged). Since Food For Life Global is a humanitarian organisation, the EVS vacancy will be tightly connected with charity and social work.
The volunter will also perform office tasks directly connected with Food For Life Global’s mission and performed at our headquarters in Ljubljana.

Range of activities and tasks performed by a volunteer:
- assisting with food collection from stores/supermarkets and delivering it to Food Surplus Hub,
- assisting with meal preparation and distribution among the socially disadvantaged in the local area,
- tasks related to social work: regular co-operation with Home for Single Mothers (Materinski dom – Siska).
- working on better recognition of Food For Life Global in Ljubljana and Slovenia (managing facebook page/website content, taking pictures of events/activities, giving presentations, participating in food fairs),
- fundraising campaigns for statutory purposes of the organization (gold donor cards, Happy Cookies project, Mobile Kitchens project),
- help with ongoing and daily tasks,
- assisting with organization of events during the project, in order to promote zero food waste philosophy and Food For Life Global’s mission,
- organization of intercultural learning activities in the local area,
- promotion of EVS and Erasmus+ programme

We are looking for young people who are positive thinkers and motivated to work in order to promote zero food waste idea and philosophy. We expect volunteers to have an interest in social and humanitarian work and be ready to work with dedication in an international team (English is the main language used between the team members in our office). They should be open-minded and sociable, since their work will involve a lot of interaction with other volunteers and friends of Food For Life Global (including the socially underprivileged) and their work will also take place during outside activities (presentations, food fairs, etc.). We would love to host creative volunteers who can work on projects (including their own projects) with minimal supervision. However, volunteers need to be prepared for working as part of a team too, especially these who will work for Food Surplus Hub. Previous volunteering experience (local or international) is desired.
