Beneficiaries / target: Young people aged between 12 and 20 years old, women, men WITH and WITHOUT disabilities/impairments.
Objectives: The European Not for Profit Sport Event aims to promote voluntary activities, social inclusion, gender equality and the awareness of the importance of physical activity for health, through participation and equal access to sport for all.
The objectives are:
1. foster a longlife passion for sport among young European citizens through the promotion of inclusive sporting activities
2. Create a community/ network of European sport Activators founded on the principles of social inclusion, dialogue among populations and gender equality
3. Promote access to the practice of all sports, with particular attention to grass roots sports that have less visibility through mass media and to the equal accessibility for all (people with disabilities, women, etc.)
4. value the talent developed in amateur sport activities as skills that young people can use for their professional growth
5. promote agreements between international institutions to experiment new forms of local governance in order to include sport in the community welfare, as an important instrument of cultural mediation and education system.
6. Create an European critical mass on the issue of Social inclusion, through an huge European Sport Event in Italy (during EXPO’ 2015) that will stimulate the debate on social inclusion.
Activities The activities foreseen throughout the project are:
Planning and preparation (January to May 2015)
A) Planning and preparation of the Not-for-profit European Sport Event in Italy with the members of organizations involved in the project through online tools and website: http://www.youthideas.eu/ and a preliminary meeting:
1. identify the shared values of the project and the Not For Profit European sports event:
• Access to sport for all (social inclusion, cultural interaction, active aging)
• grassroots sports (basic sports /popular sports) and new sports (for example Baskin)
• quality of life with sport and food
• skills developed through sport activities
2. Share tools for the management of the project: eg operating handbook, set of indicators for monitoring the activity, communication kit
B) Planning and preparation in Italy
Planning of Preparatory activities:
in and out schools (primary and secondary schools): Workshops and educational paths.
preparatory event in Italy:
National Special Olympics competition (May 2015)
Implementation of the Activity (First week of June 2015)
Not-for-profit European Sport Week, that could be a proposal for the European Week of Sport.
An international event with the participation of young athletes, disabled people, men and women together from at least 16 European countries.
The event will be opened with the National Day of Sports that involve thousands of young people in many races and sport exhibitions throughout the country, with a great focus in Milan and in the Region Lombardy.
As an indication, based on the lists of official and recognized sports of the International Olympic Committee and the International Federations, the sport actions supported by the project Euro PasSport can deal with the following sports:
Aquatics, Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Biathlon, Bobsleigh, Boxing, Canoe / Kayak, Curling, Cycling, Equestrian, Fencing, Football, Golf, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Ice Hockey, Judo, Luge, Modern Pentathlon, Rowing, Rugby, Sailing, Shooting, Skating, Skiing, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Triathlon, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Air sports, American Football, Automobile, Bandy, Baseball-Softball, Billiard Sports, Boules, Bowling, Bridge, Chess, Cricket, Dance Sport, Floorball, Flying Disc, Karate, Korfball, Life saving, Motorcycle racing, Mountaineering and climbing, Netball, Orienteering, Pelota Vasca, Polo, Powerboating, Racquetball, Roller sports, Sport climbing, Squash, Sumo, Surfing, Tug of war, Underwater sports, Water ski, Wushu.
This starting day will launch the promotion of the sport and its values, with a particular attention to the social inclusion: accessibility of sport to all without discrimination.
The week of the Not for Profit European Sport Event will be carried out throughout the region: in fact it is expected to activate 4-poles of sport accessible to all, related to the diversity of the landscape of Lombardy: Mountain, Lakes and rivers, Plain and Metropolis.
This hypothesis provides a simultaneity of the event in all 4 poles of the Lombardy Region. The delegations of the European countries will be allocated to the different locations, on the basis of the characteristics of the organizations which they belong to, except for the opening and closing day when all participants will be gather in EXPO’ (Rho) or in Milan.
The schedule of the week will be the same in each pole:
- Workshops and seminar in the morning, where participants will share methodologies and they will work towards an “agreement” on the values of inclusive sport.
- non-competitive sports tournaments for children (students from primary school to secondary) and young people in the afternoon.
- Sports trials for adults in the late afternoon and in the evening.
- side- activities (performance, music, entertainment) in the night.
Every day of the week will have a very strong mass media focus on a specific geographical pole and then on sports related to that pole.
The weekend will provide an escalation of activities with a focus on the family " World Family Games" and the White Night of Sport.
It is expected to realize the White Night of sport also in the European countries involved in the timeframe of maximum 2-3 weeks.
The expected results of these events are:
• increased visibility and awareness of events aimed at promoting social inclusion, equal opportunities and health-enhancing physical activity;
• increased participation in sport, physical activity and volunteering activity.
Dissemination and Follow up (July-December 2015)
- Development and dissemination of ethical charter of the sport to share and spread at European and International level the values of a culture of inclusive sports, launched and promoted by the European Not for Profit Sports Event.
- Preparation of a PasSport of skills for all athletes and volunteers involved .
- Schedule Plan with stakeholders for the continuity of the activities for the promotion of sport and development of the network
- Continue the European debate on the topic of inclusive sport, enhancing the "critical mass" .
- Selection of best practice models of inclusive sport.
- Launch of the European Not For Profit Sport event/week in 2016
Level of Involvement of the European organization 1) sending 20 people (young people, male and female with or without disabilities and chaperon/coach/tutor) TOTALLY FREE (travel, food and accommodation will be paid by Region Lombardy/grant)
2) indicate a sport event in your country with the same values and methodology of the Not-for-profit European Sport Week, that could be realized during the White Night of sport in order to ensure the European dimension in sport. The sport event promoted in your country will be included in the communication campaign of Euro PasSport project.
