Aim is to equip 21 youth from 7 EU countries with the skills, knowledge and experience needed to increase their employability and become successful leaders.
CONTEXT
After many years of fieldwork in the day-to-day contact with young people, we have been able to identify problems and needs within which 2 of them fit the objectives of the European Commission regarding youth in the following areas:
P1) Rising of unemployment and the socio-economic impact of the current aggravating crises (Covid-19 and Russian-Ukrainian crisis). Young people are experiencing the effects of the economic crisis triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic most intensely: after months of confinement, only 33.5% have a job and the activity rate has fallen below 50% for the first time in the last decade.
P2) Ignorance of Erasmus Plus programmes. Since we are organizing Erasmus Plus KA1 projects, we always meet few young people from the Basque autonomous community. So in 2018 we decided to do awareness-raising activities every year to raise awareness not only of our work, but also of a focus on Erasmus Plus in general and its multiple benefits for young people and the local community. Every year we have the great surprise of meeting more than 300 young people who had no knowledge about this program. lately we were in several schools in Oiartzun, IrĂșn and RenterĂa to give talks about Erasmus plus projects and the response of more than 450 students and the administrative body with whom we were in total was the ignorance of Erasmus Plus. From this experience, we reinforced our idea that we needed to do something. In addition, ignorance of EU programmes, such as Erasmus Plus and the European Solidarity Corps, has a significant impact on youth unemployment. These programmes offer young people unique opportunities to gain international experience, develop new skills and improve their chances of finding employment. However, as young people in our immediate environment are unaware of these opportunities, valuable experiences are lost that could help them in their future careers.
For example, a young person who does not know Erasmus Plus may miss the opportunity to study/work or do their internship abroad and gain international experience that helps them gain experience with real projects, which can be a valuable asset in today's global job market. Similarly, a young person who is unaware of the European Solidarity Corps may miss the opportunity to participate in a youth exchange or voluntary service, which can provide valuable skills and experiences that make them more competitive in the labour market. Ignorance of the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme can limit opportunities for young people and contribute to youth unemployment. This program offers young people the possibility to gain international experience and develop entrepreneurial skills, which makes them more competitive in the labor market. Ignorance of this opportunity means missing out on valuable experiences that can impact future professional success.
Our Training Course have a mission to organize activities that promote the well-being, development and employability of young people in a challenging environment due to recent events such as covid-19, the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and its consequences on health, stability and work and social balance. It is about preparing our young people to face challenges by providing them with the tools for self-discovery, motivation, action, active citizenship that allows them to develop their full potential for the good of their community.
