Disabled Youth Increase their Career Prospects in Europe
“The right to work and employment is a fundamental right enshrined in Article 27 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. However, it is also far from being a reality for millions of persons with disabilities willing to work. ”
We plan an action on increasing the career prospects of disabled youth as well as dealing with the prejudices and discrimination that inhibit their employability. The project will be a Key Action 2 (KA2).
The applicant Control and Balance Network is a non-partisan community of civil society organizations and citizens working to strengthen Turkey’s democracy. CBN represents 268 CSOs and 34.000 individuals from diverse political perspective, gender, lifestyle, background, ethnicity, faith, and geography. It has a central office in Ankara and local offices in 9 different regions of Turkey.
The tentative outputs of the action will be as follows:

Output 1: Research report on the needs of disabled youth and the factors inhibiting their career prospects

Output2: Developing competencies of disabled youth for future jobs through trainings.

These trainings will be on the physical environment while digital module for the training and online tutoring will be available. The trainings will not just sharpen the skills but also help them through the public campaigns against prejudices for disabled youth.

Output 3: International Youth Advocacy Coalition
The youth will campaign for increasing the awareness and decreasing prejudices/discrimination that inhibit the employability of disabled youth

Output 4: A reform proposal for policy makers for removing the barriers for the active involvement of youth in labor force.

Planned activities:
The outputs will include such as study visits, workshops, trainings, surveys and focus groups interviews, a conference. There will be mobility to partner countries. The action will be implemented in Ankara and the local communities of the international partners.
