Breaking the cycle of disadvantage (BCD) Out-of-school learning for underprivileged youth

BCD is a camp aiming at strengthening values like active citizenship, volunteering and intercultural diversity in underprivileged youth (between 13-14 years).

The Hungarian National Foundation for Recreation (HNFR) is planning to organise a youth exchange camp for children with fewer opportunities between the age of 13-14 in Hungary. The camp is aiming at strengthening values like active citizenship, volunteering and intercultural diversity in underprivileged youth. The program will allow the participants to discover new cultures, habits and lifestyles through peer-learning and by methods of non-formal education. The working language will be English to ensure a platform where the children can get acquainted with the usage of a language other than their mother tongue. This experience will help them overcome their insecurities related to speaking in English and will open new opportunities for them.

Outlines of the program:

- Estimated duration: 1 week in June 2016;
- non-formal English classes;
- study excursions in the Balaton Uplands National Park (learning about the importance of environment protection);
- learning about other cultures;
- workshops on exchange opportunities in EU and volunteering (to become a competent and well-adjusted adult and future citizen).

We are looking for 2 partners who are ready to apply for an Erasmus+ grant (KA1) together with us until October 1st. What we expect:

- 10 children with fewer opportunities between the age of 13-14 plus 2 teachers from each partner organisation;
- to be eager for future cooperation and partnership
