Community football for inclusion, health & intergenerational participation in rural areas, using non-competitive grassroots sport to activate local communities.
Bee All for Ball (BEEBALL) is an Erasmus+ Sport Small-Scale Partnership aiming to strengthen social inclusion, intergenerational cooperation and healthy lifestyles in rural and semi-rural communities through grassroots football.
Across many rural areas in Europe, access to organised community sport is limited, leading to reduced participation, physical inactivity and weaker social ties. Football, when used in a non-competitive and inclusive way, can act as a common language that brings together children, adults and older citizens.
The project builds on an existing local practice in the Municipality of Aristotle (Chalkidiki, Greece), where inclusive community football activities already involve young people, parents and older residents, with seniors often acting as volunteers or referees. BEEBALL aims to scale this model to a European level.
Key activities will include:
Local inclusive football events in partner countries
Exchange of good practices among rural communities
Awareness-raising activities on healthy lifestyles and well-being
Co-creation of a simple, replicable model for community football in small municipalities
Target groups include children and young people (8–18), parents and adults, older citizens (50+), volunteers, grassroots sport actors and rural community organisations.
We are looking for two partner organisations from rural or semi-rural areas, active in community sport, inclusion or youth work. Mutual partnerships and long-term cooperation are highly valued.
