Be Active. Act as a role model

Training course about role model and active participation in France.

Context and main aim of the project:
There are unlimited possibilities to be active in the society. Youth active participation in the society has been a recurrent topic for many years now. Lot of initiatives have been realized aiming to involve young people to local, national, European actions. While organizing training course, projects and actions with this target, we recognize that, most often, people involve themselves as they are inspired by someone’s action. Indeed, the best way to empower a youth to be active is to give him an example to follow, to inspire him by realizing our own actions.
This is the idea of role model, a person whose behaviour or success can be emulated by others, especially by the younger people (Robert K. Merton). Talking about role model, we are not only meaning giving formal explanation about how to do but mainly acting accordingly to our speech to bring others to act as we do. In the matter of active participation, this is so really important to be active and build successful actions to inspire other. This will be the main topic and aim of this training course to give knowledge about the topic, tools to build successful actions, introduction to dialogue process in order to foster youth active participation.
Thus, participants will mainly be youth worker, professional or voluntary, that could act back home as role model in their local community towards young people. Activities’ program will then be about dialogue, active participation and role model workshop, management of projects, sharing best practice, Erasmus + programs’ introduction and networking.

Objectives:
• To assess and to exchange experiences and best practices on the topic issues.
• To develop a common understanding between the participants’ organizations and instruments, on the subject of active participation and role model, to continue working together during following projects

• To provide tools (dialogue, project management) and train the participants to use it with the objectives to foster active participation of youth in their local community.
• To develop creativity, innovation and teamwork capacity of participants, their sense of initiative, as well as their understanding of how to be good learners

Methodology:
The program of the course will be based on non formal education and will be conducted using an interactive and participative approach. Active group/team work, role-plays, practical workshops, outdoor activities and plenary discussions, as well as theoretical inputs will characterize the program of the course in order to cover all aspects of the project themes. Special attention will be paid to the fact that the competences and the knowledge gained and transmitted during the course remain sustainable and transferable. This will be achieved by setting up enough space and time for reflection and evaluation, by providing comprehensive documentation, handouts and guidance from the trainers’ team. A finished workshop pack will be given to the participants at the end of the training so that they can use it at the return in their own countries. The participants will then do a training course in their respective countries to teach to other youth workers training skills and tools on the subject. Then the youth workers who received this training can create their own campaign, thanks to the visual supports and technical knowledge they will have acquired.
Tools will be taught and, on the basis of their already existing projects in their sending organizations, participants will be also invited to share good practices, to exchange useful information, and work intensively in order to improve their training skills with youths in regards to the subject of this training course.
