Urban Agricultural Development Project in Riyadh District - Nouakchott

This project aims to empower 100 vulnerable families in Riyadh district through sustainable urban vegetable gardens.

Project Activities:
1. Reclaim and equip 2 hectares in Riyadh to create 100 home gardens and a collective farm.
2. Provide improved seeds (vegetables, short-cycle fruits), organic fertilizers, and farming tools.
3. Install a solar-powered drip irrigation system to save water.
4. Train 100 beneficiaries (especially women breadwinners) in urban farming, product processing, and marketing in Riyadh markets.

Expected Impact:
Providing a healthy and affordable food source for families, increasing monthly income by 50% from surplus sales, creating 100 sustainable jobs, and improving the urban environment in Riyadh.

1. Target Group: - Direct Beneficiaries: 100 vulnerable families in Riyadh district, South Nouakchott, with priority given to 70% women heads of households and unemployed youth. - Indirect Beneficiaries: Around 700 people (family members of beneficiaries) and local residents who will benefit from fresh, affordable vegetables. 2. Type of Support Required for the Project: - Financial & Material Support: To purchase seeds, fertilizers, farming tools, and solar-powered irrigation systems. - Technical & Training Support:Agricultural trainers to train beneficiaries in sustainable urban farming. - Logistical Support: Provision of land, fencing for protection, and a water tank. - Marketing Support:Assistance in opening sales outlets and providing transportation for products to Riyadh market.
