Romanian Institute for Adult Education from Timisoara (IREA) is a research institute teacher in adult education, established in March 2000 as a nonprofit organization, in addition to the Department of Educational Sciences in the Faculty of Sociology and Psychology, University of West Timisoara, the initiative West University (UVT), the Romanian Social Institute Banat - Crisana (ISRBC) and the German Institute for Adult Education (DIE) founding members.
Working in the Institute pursue research and publications in the field of adult education, providing methodological support for activities in this field, make the link between theory and practice in adult education.
The organizational work and event editing scientific institute tries to spread nationwide research results.
IREA also carries a rich international activity aimed at promoting global adult education in Romania.
Mission IREA is to promote research and practice in adult education in Romania and Europe by supporting access to quality resources from research colabrative and practices, and by contributing proactive in processes and products aimed at them professionalise the adult educators in Romania .
Specific objectives
• Provide theoretical and methodological support for the institutions involved in adult education;
• To connect the work of teachers and practitioners of adult education through participatory research and development projects
• initiate and involve international partnerships aimed at developing adult education and promoting adult education in Romania abroad.

Research directions
The aim of the research carried out by IREA is to improve the quality of adult education and find ways to increase participation rates in adult learning and enhance lifelong learning at individual and institutional level.

Priorities
• to conduct research at national level to diagnose the current situation of adult education in Romania and to present strategic policy frameworks Peter development of adult education;
• promoting a system of continuing professional development for adult educators to improve their professional state;
• Providing support to improve basic education for adults in Romania;
• publishing resource materials and books that examine outcomes in adult education and training methodology.
Our project will bring together 30 youth workers from six different countries in order to develop their skills of social entrepreneurship in youth work.
The aim of the project is to increase youth engagement accros the EU focusing on promoting EU rights and European cutizenship.
