"Odlar Yurdu" Youth Public Union

The mission and purpose of our organization is the implementation of activities in the field of protection of national and spiritual values, active citizenship, likewise, education and intellectual development, culture, media, environment, sport, and voluntary activities to stimulate the development of the young citizens of Azerbaijan. More importantly, international cooperation in the abovementioned fields is our main priority.

Our Union will have 3 main priorities in the years 2022-2024: 1. International partnership
2. Entrepreneurship
3. Active citizenship

We have implemented plenty of projects, which were directed to support and empower young people's ideas. As a result of our activities during 10 years, more than 10.000 youngsters directly benefited from different projects and activities. The union has been a partner to 26 projects in 17 countries ( Italy, Norway, Romania, Hungary, Turkey, Greece, Ukraine, Georgia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Germany, Netherlands etc) and 80 youngsters have participated in these projects. Alongside, the union has presented Azerbaijan in different projects in 6 countries (Belgium, Croatia, Romania, Greece, Turkey, Georgia).

Based on Strategic Plan for 2019-2021 “Odlar Yurdu” Youth Public Union was working on:
1. Promotion of active citizenship among young people
2. Promotion of volunteering activity among young people
3. Promotion of entrepreneurship among young people
4. International partnership and cooperation

During the year 2019, our union had 3 local projects related to active citizenship ( “Imadeddin Nesimi – The value of 650 years”), entrepreneurship ( “I Entrepreneurship Forum of Region Youth” ), and environmental protection ( “ Environment and Me” II Summer School of Young Volunteers ). In addition, our union participated in 3 “Erasmus+” projects (Turkey, Poland, Germany) with 10+ young people. We participated in 2 international projects (North Macedonia and Croatia) as well.
Because of the “COVID-19” pandemic, some projects were postponed or canceled at the beginning of 2020. We started to hold our projects through online tolls. We were the organizational partner of the “1st Online International Forum of Entrepreneurs” project. Furthermore, in 2020, we organized the “Development of Entrepreneurship and Self-employment in Rural Areas” project. In the same year, the “KonulluSen” project was implemented to spread the philosophy of volunteerism among young people. The project produced a video and a booklet about the experience of successful young people who started their careers as volunteers. Lastly, in November 2021, the second “Brave Heart” Regional Youth Entrepreneurship Forum, was held in Ganja and has been going on for 3 months. The goal of the project was to involve the young people of the rural regions in entrepreneurship, encourage and inform them about the opportunities for investment projects, and assist to acquire the basic knowledge needed to build their own businesses. During the forum, young people in the regions had the opportunity to meet with successful businessmen, entrepreneurs, and investors and listen to presentations by professionals. In addition, 10 successful business plans developed by the participants of the project will be submitted to the State Employment Agency and young people will be provided with equipment to start their own businesses. At the beginning of 2022, with the initiative of our organization youth were sent to 2 Erasmus projects in Georgia and Bulgaria. In March 2022, the project “ProjectMan” was implemented by our organization with the support of the Azerbaijan Youth Foundation and the National Council of Youth Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan (NAYORA) within the framework of the program “Support to Activities of Youth Organizations” in Baku. The main goal of the project was to serve the development of young people's knowledge and skills in project writing and management. 20 young people aged 18-29 participated in an 8-day interactive training program. In June 2022, Odlar Yurdu Youth Public Union participated in the Youth Greenoble Summit organized by the Youth Environment Europe (YEE) network of which our organization is a member. The event aimed at emphasizing the importance of cities in environmental and social change and the need for more inclusive and intersectional local campaigns, and brought together around 75 young people coming from all over Europe and interested in advocating at the city level.
