Municipality of Azambuja

Azambuja is a Portuguese Municipality in the district of Lisbon which contributes to the social and economic development of the Azambuja region.
The Municipality is located in the Lisbon district but it belongs to the NUTS level II region of Alentejo. Azambuja makes the connection between the cosmopolitan Lisbon and the rural Ribatejo marshlands.
The Municipality is active in the fields of education, youth, sport, culture, social development, social inclusion and environment, among others.
Azambuja includes the Sports and Youth Unit, wich main strategic goal is to promote activities of social and civic intervention while stimulating the creative capacity of young people and their civic participation, seeking to establish and coordinate the necessary contacts to meet the interests of young people and bring their ideas and projects to life. Activities are promoted that range from access to information to leisure activities, cultural and sport events and initiatives with special emphasis on active civic participation of young people.
