The Valenzi Foundation is an institution of International relevance, not politically aligned,
culturally and socially active. It was born in 2009, in order to remember the memory of
Maurizio Valenzi, an old mayor of Naples who believed in politics as a “noble art”, and
committed himself to the welfare of Naples and Campania. The Foundation aims to increase
awareness of the cultural, artistic, historical and environmental heritage, sustainable
development, new civil, social and environmental rights, and equal opportunities.
Furthermore, the Foundation aims to support a culture of freedomand Mediterranean
values as part of a renewed idea of Europe and to develop a culture of responsibility and
excellence at all levels, able to handle the challenges of modernity and globalization. The
objective of the Foundation is creating places and moments for free and peaceful
discussion, experiencial opportunities for young people, exhibitions of artists
and promotion of innovative experiences in the social field, and also:
- Promoting initiatives against all forms of exclusion and racismand initiatives for the
protection of children and disadvantaged adults due to physical, psychological and
socio-economic conditions.
- Creating a network between the various organizations involved in the social field.
- Promoting the hand-craft/industrial excellencesof Campania.
- Making usable the Valenzi Archive and implementing it, editing Maurizio and Litza Valenzi’s works and correspondences.
- Enhancing the collection of paintings and other pieces of artby M. Valenzi
