Education Innovators Kosovo

Education Innovators Kosovo EIK- is a non-profit organization that was established with the purpose to support and empower young people from different communities to develop new ideas to tackle the big challenges of our time in the field of education, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

EIK focus on carrying out activities related to the development of different communities living in Kosovo. At its beginning, EIK worked on fighting corruption in the recruitment process of school staff through tech tool innovation by providing transparency, accountability, effective governance, and justice employment at the Directorate of Education in Mitrovica Municipality in Kosovo supported by The European Fund for Balkans.

Since then EIK has widened its network and started working with different organizations and public institutions on implementing several successful projects.

Until this date, the EIK has implemented projects focused on designing and building digital and entrepreneurial skills with young people that teach them how to design, develop, and deploy professional and scalable real software solutions on issues related to good governance.

What started as a core idea has become an official NGO in May 2018. In this period, Education Innovators Kosovo has managed to organize and implement activities, conferences, various workshops in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Thru our work, we continuously aim to actively contribute to the realization of the SDGs by implementing different workshops and training for all communities living in our country.

All the activities below are contributing to the realization of the SDGs:

- Digi Rights in partnership with OSCE (The goal of the #DigiRights was to encourage young people to think about their own values and identified human rights issues in their schools and neighborhoods and used their creativity to develop digital solutions and ideas for mobile applications to tackle the identified problems.)SDG 11
- Youth and Innovation Workshop (This workshop is within the framework "Empowering young people and building their capacities in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship" where 20 selected youngsters from Kosovo, are attending a nine months program on innovation and entrepreneurship in order to provide them new skills in technology and competencies relevant to today's digital market needs.) SDG 8,9
- Establishing Community City Library in Mitrovica with Columbia University in New York, USA.(SDG 4)
- Gender Equality Conference with UNICEF (Discussion sessions about the challenges that women in trade unions and in the education sector face.) SDG 5
- Moving School in Youth Peace and Security with United Nation (This project aim to promote the positive role of youth in the community and inter-ethnic cooperation through the organization of a series of workshops with young people at secondary schools.) SDG 16
- HashCode Event (EIK has become the first-ever NGO in Kosovo to provide a unique opportunity to students and organize a team-based programming competition, in partnership with Google) SDG 17
- Localhost Workshops (EIK has become the first HUB to organize weekend-long invention workshops that inspire innovation, cultivate communities and teach computer science skills in partnership with Major League Hacking - one of the biggest companies for hackers in New York, USA. ) SDG 17

Considering that we are an organization established in early 2018, the projects we have implemented have been successful in general.
