Development platform YOU+ the strongest and largest youth organization in Latvia that is working with a huge spectrum of young people - starting from active and talented young people to young people with fewer opportunities.
Since the establishment of the organisation it has been working on helping local youth to implement their ideas through the non-formal education and EU provided support.
Organisation has organised more than 400 local youth trainings, more than 40 local and international projects in the last 4 years and involved more than 3000 active members that are developing the future projects and local community.
Daily activities include supporting and mentoring youth in the form of local youth mentoring network in several municipalities, coordinating voluntary work in Liepāja, coordinating Eurodesk information network of the west region of Latvia and supporting newly developed youth NGOs and working on youth policy development.
The goals of the organisation are:
to unite young people of Liepāja and Southern Kurzeme regions and specialists involved in work with youth, with the aim of promoting their involvement in non-formal education processes;
promote the development of non-formal education, voluntary work and peer education and bring its importance to the local level in the development of society, to develop young people's entrepreneurship, critical thinking, media literacy and other competencies necessary for everyday life;
promotion of youth sports lifestyle and physical fitness;
to offer young people a development platform where they can not only receive support, but also overcome the border between the life of a young person and an adult through their own active involvement with the help of practical and informal education.
Since its inception, organisation has developed experience in organising events for young people inclusion, such as:
Developed a new non-formal youth democracy simulation game, that has been run for more than 100 time in various situations and trainings.;
Erasmus+ KA3 project- youngsters and politician discussions “Politician is only a human”.
Erasmus+ KA3 project- youngsters and politician discussions “Youth policy development in the municipalities of Liepaja city and Dienvidkurzeme”
Local youth mentoring network that on a daily basis is supporting at least 60 youngsters with fewer opportunities at the same time and in the last 3 years has helped almost 500 young people .
Youth one stop agency development in several KA02 strategic partnerships with Finnish, Lithuanian and Bulgarian organisations.
Developing overall youth policy development in the region by developing youth field researches, mapping resources and training new youth workers.
Developing a local youth NGO network that currently is connecting more than 20 regional organisations.
There are many activities, but they can be divided into several parts - promoting mental health and providing psycho-emotional support; providing support to young people with fewer opportunities; classes and youth-initiated events; promotion of civic and political participation of young people; local and international trainings; events for specialists as well as work on developing youth policy. In general, within the framework of all these directions, the organisation has implemented more than 300 events in the last 4 years and involved almost 5,000 young people.
