Consorzio Sol.Co, Rete di Imprese Sociali Siciliane, was founded in 1994 with the aim of generating a network of social enterprises to contribute to the developement of territories and communities. Sol.co promotes a civil economy system based on proximity and local development by applying the authentic values of social cooperation. the Solco model focuses on the person as a worker and as a beneficiary of services in a synergic action with the territory. Sol.co's business action acts in the enpowerment of the territories and works to include the weaker sections of society by accompanying the most vulnerable and groups at risk of exclusion (the disabled, victims of violence, migrants, children and young people from depressed areas) in autonomy paths. The organization is characterized by the continuous search for sustainable innovation models for sharing good practices. Sol.co's mission is to generate cultural and social change, to promote new social enterprises and civil economy activities in support of participatory democracy. Sol.co's mission is the only one that includes the value system and the social enterprise operating model. Since 1994 Sol.Co. Network of Sicilian Social Enterprises represents the model of good organization of social enterprise in Sicily, with a solidarity and entrepreneurial approach.
