Coalition of youth organizations is national network of youth NGOs with head office in Prilep, Macedonia. SEGA continuously works on developing and implementing youth policies in Macedonia as well as connecting and strengthening young people to improve their overall state. SEGA as a national organization builds upon collective membership. The membership of SEGA (at the moment) consists of 27 member organizations who work in the field of protection and improvement of the environment, development of entrepreneurship and tourism, options for healthy life among the youngsters, regional development, international youth cooperation etc.
The main focus of field of work of SEGA is:
- Youth activism;
- Youth participation;
- Youth employment;
- Democracy, mutual confidence and cooperation;
- Community development;
- Information;
- Advocacy and lobbying for youth policy.
According to the strategic plan (2018-2022) SEGA will have three pillars for the next five-year period:
- Youth activism, participation and information
- Development, support and coordination of youth organizations and other youth bodies
- Creation of youth policies and space for development of young people in the society
What are the activities and experience of the organisation ?
The Coalition of youth organizations SEGA is a national platform of youth organizations dedicated to lobbying for needed legislative changes as well as committed to supporting youth activism, access to information and participation of young people in activities for solution of their problems.
SEGA have significant experience in research, development and application of innovative tools in youth field, this utilizing ITC technologies, in the area of youth employment, NEET, youth work, youth participation, youth information and VET. SEGA has long-term cooperation with a number of high schools, VET centers, universities, business sector and governmental institutions.
In 2015 SEGA developed Position Paper on youth employment jointly with numerous CSOs and institutions through the ERASMUS+ programme. The position paper was submitted to the Government of Macedonia and some of the recommendations were included in the new Action Plan for Youth Employment 2016 - 2020. SEGA has experience in career counseling and guidance through long term project supported through EU IPA programme. The general objective of the project is to facilitate the social inclusion of vulnerable young adults through the creation of equal opportunities for accessing the labour market. In order to reach the above general objective, the activities in this action are designed to specifically achieve the following objective: to support, encourage and increase the participation of vulnerable young adults in the labor market by improving their employability, build skills to join the labor market and fully integrate into the society. Through this project, SEGA promoted and applied the Early Career Guidance methodology in to the young people living in institutions. In 2017, SEGA started the project "Youth Information Centers fit to NEET" that brings together partners from Macedonia, Croatia and Poland that work on innovative approach in identifying role model for youth information to fit to the needs of people in NEET situation. The overall aim of the project is to: Increase quality of youth work in addressing needs of NEETs in Europe. Through the project partners strive to achieve the specific objective of the project to: Introduce innovative tailored youth information approach for active inclusion of NEETs in the society. This project serves as a valuable resource in developing of the proposed project idea, on the basis of the conducted desk research, as well on the assessment of the needs of young people in NEET situation.
