CLAR is an early-stage nonprofit initiative dedicated to combating illegal waste dumping worldwide, with a particular focus on communities where the problem is most severe and resources to address it are most limited.
In countless cities and regions across the globe, illegal dump sites are a daily reality. They harm public health, contaminate water sources, damage local ecosystems, and create long-term environmental burdens that fall disproportionately on the people least equipped to deal with them. At the same time, local authorities often lack the data, manpower, and budget to identify and respond to these sites effectively. Citizens see the problem every day but have no structured way to act on it. CLAR exists to close that gap.
We are building a mobile app that empowers citizens to photograph and geolocate illegal dump sites directly from their smartphones. Every report is automatically forwarded to the relevant municipal authorities and partner NGOs, creating a real-time, crowd-sourced map of waste pollution that gives decision-makers the data they need to prioritize and respond. Beyond reporting, the app also coordinates community cleanup efforts, allowing users to organize and participate in local cleanups and log their contributions.
What sets CLAR apart from existing tools is its reward model. Rather than relying solely on goodwill, CLAR gives users a concrete reason to participate. Every report filed and every cleanup completed earns the user credits, redeemable through a network of partner companies. These rewards can take the form of mobile data, discounts, vouchers, or other services contributed by participating businesses. This approach is designed to work in any country or region, but is especially powerful in contexts where a small, tangible reward can be the difference between walking past a problem and doing something about it.
We are currently seeking two types of partners. The first are reward partners, such as telecom providers, retailers, and service companies, who are willing to contribute credits or services to the reward ecosystem in exchange for visibility, community goodwill, and the opportunity to align their brand with measurable social and environmental impact. The second are build partners, including software developers, NGOs, municipal governments, and impact investors, who want to help bring this platform to life, whether through technical expertise, organizational support, funding, or on-the-ground presence in target regions.
CLAR is at the idea-to-execution stage. The vision is clear, the need is proven, and the model is ready to be built. We are actively looking for the right people and organizations to help us turn this into a global movement for cleaner, healthier communities.
