The Partner-Finding Tool
Caminhar is based in a small town in the centre of Portugal (about 130 km from Lisbon, the capital city). It has seeked, since 2000, year of its foundation, to transform its community into a more aware, active, solidary and knowledgeable one, mainly through non-formal and informal education strategies / activities. It has been working with children, youngsters, families and seniors, aiming to bring everyone together and help everyone to be happier and healthier.
The institution has a senior academy, holiday workshops for children and teens, provides personal and social development activities and programmes to local schools.
It has most recently been focusing on the power of giving / sharing. Its most recent project - Generations of Change - has as main goal creating an online platform where locals can register both the knowledge and experience they have - and are willing to share with others (teach), as well as services they can voluntarily provide, thus making an empoverished by unemployment and highly depressed community more (re)active, more alive, more skilled.
A Youth Exchange about the power of peer support and how volunteer peer supporters can be more effective.
