Alliance of Civilisations Institute

We are an Institute called Alliance of Civilisations, under Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University located in a historical area in Istanbul. Our institute aims to pursue the UN project titled Alliance of Civilisations, which was initiated in 2005. We have over 80 postgraduate students from all around the world, for instance from Spain, The USA, Italy, Belgium, the Balkans (Macedonia, Albenia, Serbia, Monte Negro), Iran, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Lebanon, China, Japan, the Philippines, Ethiopia, Morocco, Indonesia etc. As an institute, we would like to create a project about cultural richness such as traditions of cuisine, clothes, education, literature, music and dances, tales and so on. Istanbul is a significant city embracing different ethnic groups, different religions living in the same neighbourhood, under the same "roof" in peace and in a friendly way. We'd like to emphasize this unity and to pay attention to those differences that shape the society. It is like the "art of marbling" peculiar to Turkish fine arts or "a mosaic", in a way, every colour is mixed and mingled to each other and form a picture in harmony. While we are introducing our values, also we'd love to learn about the experiences of other countries.
