The Threshold

Training Course

22-30 August 2015 | Wicklow Mountains, Ireland

Training course on the topics of nature, vulnerability and spirituality. Through non-formal education and experiential learning methods, participants experience the role of the topics within their personal life and as youth- or social workers.
This training course covers the topics of vulnerability, spirituality, connectedness and nature, which are often missing in our fast-paced society nowadays. The course aims at supporting the participants in exploring these topics on both a personal and professional level. Through non-formal education and experiential learning methods, participants experience the role of vulnerability, spirituality, connectedness and nature within the context of their personal life and personal development – and learn to apply these topics and methods within their role as youth- or social workers. Important part of the experience is being IN nature and WITH nature. “The Threshold” is a 9 day training course (including arrival and departure days) which will take place from 22 AUG – 30 AUG 2015 in the beautifull nature of the Wicklow mountains, Ireland. The training course is hosted by the dutch organisation YES. Topics of the course: Vulnerability working with limitations and expectations (personal, social groups), finding strengths and qualities, being open. Connectedness connecting with yourself, nature, other people, the outside world (deep ecology). Spirituality secret-sacred things, sharing experiences, human spirituality in different cultural backgrounds. We see the topics of Vulnerability, Nature and Connectedness / Spirituality as common for every human being and every culture / religion, and we want to unfold and discover those little mysterious, but natural and important parts of life. The idea is for youth workers to experience different things themselves, so that they can use them later on as a multiplier when working with young people and make the course topics much more comfortable and useful in the framework of working with young people. Trainers: Dani Korai - YES (Netherlands) Gareth Conlon - Development Perspectives (Ireland) Bara Blahova - Petrklíč Help (Czech Republic) Stefan Schwarc - Do světa (Czech Republic)
