The Art of Discovery

Training Course

18-25 May 2026 | Garlstedt, close to Bremen, Germany

Training course for youth workers, trainers, and facilitators to strengthen competences in facilitating learning and designing educational programmes. Participants will develop skills, reflect on their role, and exchange tools in international youth work.

The Art of Discovery is an international training course designed for youth workers, trainers, facilitators, and youth leaders who are active in the field of non-formal education and international youth work and who wish to further develop their competences in facilitating learning and designing educational programmes.

The training responds to the need for youth work professionals to intentionally design meaningful learning experiences and effectively support participants’ learning processes. Facilitating learning requires more than delivering activities — it involves understanding how learning happens, creating supportive learning environments, adapting to group dynamics, and responding to unexpected situations and emerging learning opportunities.

This training course will support participants in strengthening their competences related to facilitating learning and designing educational programmes in non-formal education contexts. Participants will explore how to structure educational processes, define learning objectives, choose appropriate methods, and reflect on their role, attitudes, and responsibilities as facilitators.

The course is designed for participants who already have experience in youth work and Erasmus+ projects and who want to deepen their professional practice. It provides space for reflection, exchange of experiences, peer learning, and development of practical skills applicable in their future projects and activities.

The programme will be based on non-formal education principles and will include interactive workshops, experiential learning activities, reflection sessions, group work, simulations, and peer exchange. Participants will both experience and analyse different facilitation approaches and educational design methods.

Through this process, participants will strengthen their confidence and competence in facilitating learning, become more intentional in designing educational programmes, and develop tools, methods, and approaches they can apply in their own youth work practice. The training will also foster international networking, exchange of good practices, and cooperation between youth work professionals from different Erasmus+ Programme countries.
