Sportive Horizons

Training Course

8-16 October 2026 | Agros, Cyprus

Sportive Horizons is a training activity for youth workers exploring how sport and tourism can foster entrepreneurship, employability and inclusion, while developing practical skills to create sustainable initiatives and opportunities for young people.

Sportive Horizons is an international training activity designed for youth workers, trainers, facilitators, educators and other professionals actively involved in non-formal learning and youth work.

The training explores how sport and tourism can be used as practical tools for youth development, entrepreneurship, employability and social inclusion. Rather than approaching sport only from a competitive or recreational perspective, participants will examine how sport-based and tourism-related activities can create meaningful learning experiences, develop transferable skills and encourage young people to take initiative in their communities.

The programme is particularly targeted at applicants who already work, or are preparing to work, with young people through non-formal education. Participants should be interested in developing new methods that can be transferred to youth organisations, community initiatives, NGOs, sports organisations, youth centres and other environments where non-formal learning takes place.

Through workshops, group work, practical activities, simulations, reflection sessions and exchange of experiences, participants will explore topics including entrepreneurship in sport and tourism, project and activity development, communication, teamwork, leadership, creativity, problem-solving and turning ideas into realistic initiatives. Particular attention will be given to understanding how these competences can be developed among young people through experiential and non-formal learning.

Sport will be incorporated into the programme as an educational environment where participants can experience group dynamics, decision-making, leadership, cooperation and problem-solving in practice. No specific sporting background or high level of physical ability is required. The focus is on understanding how sport can be adapted and used as a methodology within youth work.

The training will also provide space for participants from different countries and organisations to exchange practices, discuss challenges faced by young people in their communities and develop ideas for future activities and cooperation.

By the end of Sportive Horizons, participants are expected to have gained practical methods, greater confidence and new perspectives that they can apply directly in their work with young people. They will also be encouraged to transfer the knowledge and methods gained during the training to their organisations and local communities, creating a wider impact beyond the activity itself.

Sportive Horizons is therefore primarily a capacity-building opportunity for people working in non-formal learning and youth work who want to broaden their professional toolkit and explore the potential of sport and tourism as environments for learning, participation, entrepreneurship and youth development.
