This will be a 3-day basic course about the peer-to-peer method to engage, connect and empower youngsters and their youth workers who are interested to work with the topic of youth mental health as a life skill.

General description

This will be a 3-day basic course about the peer-to-peer method to engage, connect and empower youngsters and their youth workers who are interested to work with the topic of youth mental health as a life skill. Participants can expect to build common grounds for discovering mental health subject, well-being and peer-to-peer method. Stories and examples “from the field” will be provided and a study visit to a local youth center to see and hear about the peer-to-peer method as a tool. Participants will also explore  Erasmus+ and ESC programme opportunities for projects in the field of youth mental health. Participants will have an opportunity to share good practices from their countries and organizations.

Objectives of the training

  • To promote the understanding of youth workers about the use of the peer-to-peer method to promote the mental health of young people.
  • To promote a positive attitude and competence of young people to get involved in promoting the mental health of their peers.
  • To provide participants with a peer-to-peer methodology toolkit and mental health tool kit.
  • To promote partnership and networking among participants, organizations in the field of mental health and peer-to-peer education.

Methods

During the training course, non formal education methods will be used:

  • group work
  • outdoor methods
  • self-care, resilience methods
  • study visit
  • interactive presentations
  • designing the methods and trying them out.

Target group

This training course is for 26 participants. 2 participants per organization - one adult who directly works with young people (youth worker, social worker, youth leader, teacher) and an active youngster (age 16-20) who is interested to learn about the peer-to-peer method as a tool to promote youth mental health.

No need for previous experience with peer-to-peer methods. Both youth workers and young people will be expected to communicate in English.

Duration

5 days. Arrivals on the 17th of April in the evening and departures in the morning on the 21st of April.

Participation fee

This project is financed by the participating National Agencies (NAs) of the Erasmus+ Youth in Action Programme. The participation fee varies from country to country. Please contact your National Agency to learn more about the participation fee for participants from your country.

Accommodation and food

Unless specified otherwise, the hosting NA of this offer will organise the accommodation and covers the costs for accommodation and food.

Travel reimbursement

Please contact your NA n order to know whether they would support your travel costs. If yes, after being selected, get in touch with your NA again to learn more about the overall procedure to arrange the booking of your travel tickets and the reimbursement of your travel expenses.
