One step More ... Training for youth workers to prepare and implement youngsters with fewer opportunities in the youth work.
- To create an intercultural setting for youth workers to explore and exchange their skills in youth work for youngsters with fewer opportunities - Through adventure based learning give the participants an opportunity in personal growth, explore their own capacities in leadershipness, giving feedback, creating learning opportunities for youngsters. - Learn and exchange about outdoor activities and experiential learning - Stimulate youngsters in the first steps off youth work; give time and space to create these networks or new projects Concept: Since several years NATURE is active in organising international programmes. Since 2 years also active in involving youngsters with fewer opportunities in their youth exchanges. From experiences we learn that the combination outdoor education and personal growth has been very usefull for lots of our participants. So we want to go step further and combine both of our actions training and youth exchanges. This training is meant for youth workers and social workers working with youth at risk and also for youngsters from the target group that already attended some youth exchanges or feel ready to know more about leadershipness and/or youth work. The training will be hosted in Belgium in an adventurous setting for 8 days. We want to reach participants from different countries, a mixture of known partners and new partners to create an good intercultural atmosphere. Attending 24 participants we want to have at least 8 youngsters with fewer opportunities in this group. Methods: We will work in 2 groups of maximum 12 participants. This is to encourage contacts in between also for persons that easily disappear in a big group. To work with the group for reflections and group process it gives us more space. We will use outdoor activities and active reviewing methodology based on former experiences in our youth exchanges to get to an implementation of our skills. Partners: Directly involved in working with youngsters with fewer opportunities (institutions or youth work) and interested in setting up new project where these youngsters are involved. Willing to bring one of the youngsters to the training course or involve him/her in the proces. This means you have youngsters from the target group ready to become leader and interested in youth work. We want to have a good mix north, south, east, west. English will be the mean language on the course. Youngsters with fewer opportunities that have less knowledge of English can join the course . Make sure you have some support for translations on the course.
