International Youth Conference
This conference is aimed at developing the ability of young people to deal with diversity issues. These are issues that young individuals deal with almost everyday. This is an exchange for youth leaders & young individuals of countries within the EU.
Objectives of this international youth exchange conference
As mentioned, diversity will be the topic of this international youth exchange conference.
In a fast changing society the ability to deal with change and diversity is crucial.
This conference will have an active programme with debates, where the participants will learn and share their experiences with diversity issues. This programme involves a city excursion, music, theatre, and workshops.
With this youth conference we hope to influence and challenge groups and individuals towards more tolerance and flexibility towards these topics.
The issues that will be discussed are:
- diversity & media (blowing different cultural topics out of their proportion)
- diversity & identity (creating your own identity and fitting society, combining the culture of origin and the local dominating culture)
- diversity & living in urban areas (with different cultures, urban areas vs. rural areas)
- diversity & future perspectives (entering the labor market, raise education levels)
Our goal for these issues are:
- to develop knowledge & understanding
- to stimulate skills in active listening & communication
- positive change of attitudes & values
On the 6th of July these young leaders will hold a presentation on what their findings were during the youth conference and experiences with these issues on the International Conference on Diversity in Organisations, Communities, and Nations.
This International Conference on Diversity in Organisations, Communities, and Nations will address a range of critically important themes in the study of diversity today. Main speakers will include some of the world’s leading thinkers in the field as well as numerous paper, workshop, and colloquium presentations by researchers and practitioners.
The conference looks at the realities of diversity today, critically as well as optimistically and strategically. The conference will be a place for speaking about diversity and that in ways that range from the 'big picture' and theory to the very practical and everyday realities of diversity in organisations, communities, and civic life.
