International Training Course for Youth Workers on Managing Resources

Training Course

8-14 September 2025 | Vilnius or Trakai region, Lithuania

Participate in an experiential training for youth workers and project managers, focusing on the competences of “Resource Management” in international youth work settings. Learn how to manage European programme funding for international youth work.

The training course will contribute to developing youth workers' “Managing Resources” competence based on the ETS Competence model for youth workers to work internationally.

Objectives

  • Increase understanding how to raise resources, including funding, for international youth work projects
  • Develop knowledge of budgeting and fundraising tailored to youth work contexts
  • Enhance skills to adapt programme design to available resources and changing contexts
  • Learn ways for co-management, shared responsibility, and involving youth in budgeting and creative resource management
  • Foster attitudes that promote risk-taking and recognition of young people’s efforts

Highlights of this training activity

  • Aligned to the ETS competence model for Youth Workers - the course objectives and content are aligned with professional youth workers’ competences in international youth work settings
  • Certified training - the broad coalition of partners will create opportunities for the course participants to assess, validate and recognise competence development at the international level and in specific countries (if possible). 
  • Digital friendly - the training and competence assessment methodology and activities will include using digital tools and platforms, for example, YouthWorkPathways.net platform and digital Open Badges.
  • Long-term development opportunity - participants willing to continue to develop their professional youth work competences will be invited to apply for the upcoming training courses on other competence areas.
  • Endorsed by the broad partnership of Cities of Learning members national youth worker associations and international organisations from the youth work field.

Participants profile

This course is for people who are:

  • Youth workers*
  • Youth work managers
  • Youth programme and project managers
  • Directly involved in managing or supporting young people in managing international youth projects
  • Age: from 18 years.
  • Language: a sufficient level of English is necessary to participate in this course
  • Resident in one of the countries identified in the call.  

*Youth worker is understood as someone who works with young people in a wide variety of non-formal and informal learning contexts, typically focusing on young people's personal and social development through one-on-one relationships and group-based activities. 

**Managing Resources means understanding the values and working culture of youth projects and youth organisations. It’s about understanding what motivates young people to take part in projects, how to nurture this motivation and manage risks accordingly. This competence also includes knowledge of national legislation, data policies and financial resources management, with a special attention to the amount of resources needed to design, prepare and deliver international youth work projects.

Costs

Participation fee

To balance the training budget, we invite to contribute a 50 euro participation fee, which will be deducted from the travel costs reimbursement. In justified cases, participants may request a discount or waive the contribution. Participation fee should not be a barrier to participation.

Accommodation and food

Board, lodging, local transportation and programme costs will be covered upon full participation in the course.

 

Travel reimbursement

This course is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme, so the organisers will cover most of the costs.

Special needs support is covered based on actual costs, but both parties involved must agree on the amount. 

 

 The following cost reimbursement rules will apply:

Travel costs will be reimbursed based on the actual costs not exceeding the lump sums based on the travel distances, in Euro:

  • 10-99 km - 28 / green travel - 56 
  • 100-499 km - 211/ green travel - 285
  • 500-1999 km - 309/ green travel 417
  • 2000-2999 km - 395/ green travel 535

Only justified costs will be eligible for reimbursement. Local transfer costs might be up to 30 Euros. It will be included in the overall travel costs.  If your travel will exceed the lump sums above, the remaining costs shall be covered by the participant or their sending organisation.

Participants may opt for the “green travel” options for a slightly higher travel budget. Please contact the organiser for more information about eligible green travel options.

Participants are entitled to receive a Youthpass certificate from the organiser, for recognition of their competence development during the activity. Read more about Youthpass:
