From Knowing to Being - ETS Training for Trainers

Training Course

4-11 June 2022 | Rursee, Germany

Are you ready to live through and reflect on using and applying the ETS competence model for trainers working internationally with a focus on attitudes, values and inner readiness? If yes, we are looking forward to meet you in this training course!

JUGEND für Europa, the German National Agency for Erasmus+ Youth and European Solidarity Corps in cooperation with SALTO Training & Cooperation Resource Centre, is glad to announce the third edition of this training course addressed to trainers training trainers & youth workers, as well as educators of youth workers, who are ready to live through and reflect on using and the ETS competence model for trainers working at international level with a specific focus on attitudes, values and inner readiness.

The intentions of this training course are:

  • To explore the role of the third layer of the ETS competence model for trainers working at international level (attitudes, values, beliefs, inner readiness) in trainers’ competence development.
  • To raise awareness of trainers on the interconnectedness between their inner state and the outer action.
  • To deepen the self-awareness of trainers with regards to their personal third layer and its impact on their training work.
  • To support trainers in identifying and working with their learning needs as well as applying the actual learning outcomes for their next step in their professional development.
  • To deepen the understanding of how to use competence models in training /curriculum development by focusing on some essential dimensions: attitudes, values, beliefs and inner readiness.

Should you be interested by this course, please be ready for the following elements:

  • A methodology based on the principles of experiential learning
  • Experiential outdoor activities (e.g. walks, exercises and a possible night outside in the nature)
  • Regular individual and group reflection moments
  • Mindfulness-based exercises
  • Self-assessment using the ETS Competence Model to support working with actual learning needs
  • Interested applicants with mobility impairment should first contact the organisers.

In order to continue the reflection process and check in on the personal learning of the participants, a consolidation seminar is planned 9-13 October 2022 (in the Cologne/ Bonn area, Germany). Applicants should therefore reserve these dates as well.

The course will follow the same principles developed for the COMETS series of trainings:

  • Awareness: me – the group – the field – the context;
  • Readiness to question and to review practice;
  • Readiness to stretch boundaries;
  • Being explicit about choices as trainers;
  • Integrity: Walk the talk!
  • Giving space to the whole person: body - mind - soul - heart;
  • Awareness: Being here as learner in a community of learners;
  • Giving to Caesar what’s Caesars’: acknowledging [re]sources of practice.

The team of trainers for this training course are Peter Hofmann, Arturas Deltuva, and Angelica Paci.

Following the selection process, the training team will contact the participants with specific information and tasks regarding the self-assessment to be done as preparation to the course.

This training course is addressed to trainers and educators being active and advanced in the implementation of (international) trainings. It offers them an opportunity to raise their awareness on how their attitudes, values, beliefs, and their inner readiness impact on their work as trainer or educator.

The overall purpose of the training course is to lift the potential of participants to take further steps in their professional development. In this context, advanced means that the trainers-learners have the capacity to direct and reflect upon their own learning and in particular, the ability to self-assess their own competences.

COVID-19 precautions

Please note that the training will be implemented residentially, if the pandemic situation allows, and that health and safety precautions will be in place for the team and participants. However, please be aware that the venue only allows for boarding in double rooms.

Depending on the COVID-19 regulations by the time of the training, it is possible that only participants who are vaccinated with an EU approved vaccine will be able to enter Germany and take part in the experience. The German National Agency will not be able to support quarantines prior and after the activity.
