Explore, Learn, Empower is a PDA, under the Erasmus+ Mobility of Youth Workers gathering 28 youth workers to foster inclusion, ecological awareness and intercultural learning through nature-based, non-formal methods.

About the Project

“Explore, Learn, Empower” is an innovative initiative aimed at enhancing the quality of youth work through the principles and practices of Outdoor Adventure Education (OAE). Funded by the Erasmus+ Programme under KA153-YOU – Mobility of Youth Workers, the project is designed to equip youth workers, youth leaders, and educators from partner organizations across Europe with practical tools to engage young people in meaningful, experiential learning in natural environments.
Rooted in non-formal education, this project promotes inclusion, encouraging the participation of individuals with fewer opportunities.
By empowering youth workers with the skills and mindset of Outdoor Education, “Explore, Learn, Empower”fosters personal growth, ecological awareness, and intercultural understanding, creating a ripple effect of positive change in communities across Europe.

Objectives of the Exchange

✅ Advocate for Outdoor Education and experiential learning as accessible and engaging approaches in youth work.
✅ Understand the diverse realities of disadvantaged young people and explore how OAE can empower them.
✅ Explore the role of youth workers and the potential of natural environments in youth learning and personal growth.
✅ Foster understanding of group dynamics, self-awareness, and the facilitator’s role in non-formal education.
✅ Expand partnerships and cooperation within Erasmus+ and beyond.
✅ Enhance participants soft and hard skills relevant to youth work.
✅ Exchange best practices, tools, and methods among participants.
✅ Deepen comprehension of inclusive youth work, outdoor education, and experiential learning principles.

Who Can Participate?

Youth workers, educators, and organizational staff (aged 24+, no upper age limit) actively engaged in working with young people, especially those with fewer opportunities.
Participants with strong interest or background in outdoor education, adventure-based learning, and non-formal methods.
Participants fully available for the entire 9-day training (including travel) and committed to active engagement.
English language skills are required to participate in discussions and group work.

Important Notes

This is a non-formal educational program, meaning learning happens through interactive activities, group discussions, and creative methods.
Participation in all sessions is mandatory to receive travel reimbursement.
You will receive a Youthpass Certificate upon completion, recognizing your learning experience.

Accommodation and food

Accommodation and 3 meals + 2 coffee breaks are fully covered by the Erasmus+ program.

Participants will stay at Porto Moniz Youth Center, located nestled on Madeira’s breathtaking northwestern coast, offers the perfect balance between comfort, community, and the island’s stunning natural beauty. Just steps away from the famous natural lava pools and surrounded by dramatic ocean cliffs.
The Youth Center is designed for group stays, providing shared dormitory-style rooms equipped with comfortable beds, storage, and access to shared bathrooms. Common areas include cozy lounges for evening chats, a dining hall where we’ll share meals, and outdoor spaces where you can unwind while soaking in the fresh Atlantic air.
Its location is ideal for exploration, cafés, and small local shops are just a short walk away, while hiking trails and viewpoints start right at the doorstep.
Special dietary requirements will be accommodated.

Travel reimbursement

Travel costs will be reimbursed up to the Erasmus+ travel limits after full participation and submission of required documents.
Participants must arrange their own travel to Madeira Island and return their home according with the indications from coordinator.

Serbia - 580€

France - 395€

The Netherlands - 580€

Sweden - 580€

Estonia - 580€

Turkiye - 1188€
