Connect Challenge Change: training to support youth workers seeking to support young people make sense of this globalised world

Training Course

4 July 2011 - 8 July 2001 | Derby, United Kingdom

Training course in global youth work methodology which will enable participants to work with young people in processes related to participation, empowerment, active citizenship and self-development to think globally and act locally.
Come join us in Derby, the very middle of England for a 5 day training course on global youth work methodology! The training aims to share innovative global youth work practice that demonstrates how to build the new skills and attitudes young people need to function in a globalised society. The training is based around a Connect Challenge Change framework that connects young people to global issues, challenges their thinking and assumptions, and helps them create change towards a more just and sustainable world. You will be participating in workshops and activities, hearing expert speakers and visiting youth groups from across the East Midlands region of England. You will be learning: • Knowledge and skills to implement GYW into your practice. • New activity and game ideas. • Techniques and skills which will help you to engage a wide range of young people, especially those with fewer opportunities, to make sense of a rapidly globalising world and their place in it • Personal confidence in understanding global issues and globalisation. • The perspectives of others and skill sharing through group discussions • the benefits to a GYW approach in contrast to a standard youth work approach. • About E-learning as a tool for youth workers seeking to develop their professional practise If this interests you, please fill in the application form and return to us by Tuesday 31st May 2011. We look forward to hearing from you!
